Handmade Carpets are the best method to revive the beauty of a home. It’s only a thing which can change the entire look when it placed once. You don’t need to use anything else for decorating your room surface after used a handmade carpet. If we talk about a human then a person can change their look by changing the dress. Dress is the main factor as compared to a hairstyle or other so, in the same thing, you can say about a carpet. A handmade carpet plays the same role of dress. When you’re decorating a new home or renovating an existing one, you need to put some thought and ideas into getting the layout right for each room. Making a handmade carpet has been originated from Persia by tribal. They started to use tribal carpets which are made in wool and cotton materials. Now, handmade carpets are woven in many countries like Pakistan, India, Iran, Afghanistan, and Chinese. I already discussed the difference between modern and traditional carpets and now I am going to tell you the difference between Indian Carpets and Chinese carpets-
Difference between Materials:
Most of the Chinese carpets are made of pure silk material because China is the best country to produce pure silk. Indian Handmade Carpets are made in different materials like pure wool carpet, silk carpet, cotton, jute etc. Kashmiri carpets are made in pure silk, Jaipur dhurries are made in pure cotton or wool and Bhadohi is famous to produce “one of a kind” design pattern wool area rugs. So you can find the different verities in India according to your budget.
Difference between designs:
Chinese carpets contain Medallion dragon or snake type design pattern and Indian carpets are based on the floral pattern. Weavers in India follow the design of Persia like Kashan, Hamadan, Qum etc but modified it according to themselves. For example, You can see that mostly handmade Kashmiri silk carpets contain Chinar tree, birds, flowers, leaves etc. actually they want to represent their place on the carpet. Kashmir is surrounded by Chinar tree and mountains and carpets designs have been inspired from there. Carpet making art is started by Mughal emperor and that’s why these traditional antique carpets contain Mughal design patterns. Patterns on some older Chinese carpets are often taken from porcelain painters and made in silk material. In some cases, patterns also show old religious symbols with specific religious dragon patterns.
Difference between manufacturing processes:
Indian handmade carpets are woven in hand-knotted technique as well as hand-tufted technique. In this process, weavers used low pile or knots for easy vacuuming and for adding strength to the carpet but handmade Chinese carpets used the warp thread of cotton which together with rough pile yarn gives large knots and carpets that are fairly thick. If you want to buy an Indian carpet which is tick and gives a more cozy touch then you can take a double weft wool area rug.
The above are the main differences between Indian Handmade carpet and Chinese handmade carpet. I hope it will be a useful information for you.
